This is a prototype I made for a special trading card that was meant to be part of a game. A dimensional character would appear suddenly to battle a figure on another card (I think.) It’s surprisingly fun to do. I’ve almost worn out my only extant mock-up by repetitively triggering and resetting it. “Click! kachink Click! kachink Click!…” I should make a bunch more of these with all kinds of things popping up on them. Hopefully the characters would be less threatening than this little fellow.

Holy crap – that’s ingenious! Love him and his major action figure status.

This one was made with a bunch of folded paper and a rubber band. I also tried it with a bent wire as a spring but it was too difficult to control. It’s hard to briefly explain exactly how it was made but I can say that it took me a while to engineer it to work smoothly.
